Squirrel by MightySquirrel Squirrel by MightySquirrel
I did this painting several years ago - maybe 5 - but I still love it :) It is watercolor, 9" x 12", on cold pressed 100% cotton Aqvarelle Arches watercolor paper (this stuff is great).

When I was young I was hooked on the Redwall series, and this was done with Redwall in mind. I always have preferred to keep "furries" as they are in nature as opposed to making them anthro. When making it, I completely made up his clothes and sword, as I still to this day don't know much at all about weaponry or clothing.

Oh, yeah, I might also mention that I absolutely love squirrels ;)

That's so gorgeous! Really good colours, and I love his sword. Great use of watercolours...

How cute :)
I really like how you've used and blended the watercolours, especially on his tail and the moss

Squirrels are one of my favourites from the redwall series as well. :3 You did a very good job on this. The colours are so soft, which gives the picture a very peaceful feeling.

Yes ::points to the description of the painting:: it was Redwall inspired. And Redwall wasn't *only* about mice :) There were plenty o squirrels too! The squirrels of Redwall seem to be the animal equivalents of elves in LOTR - they live in the woods, great up in trees, and usually preferred bow & arrow. Except I didn't give mine a bow. I tried another painting with a bow-wielding squirrel but I don't like it as much as this one.

Thanks for the comments!
