Rachel Alexandra... and my cats

Thu Jul 2, 2009, 2:15 PM
Ok, I want to take a moment to talk about the Thoroughbred mare Rachel Alexandra. She's gained mega fame by beating colts and being very talented, but there is one thing that really really bothers me. You see, I (and I'm sure so do many of the horsey people here) watch the flickr account of the very talented photographer Rock and Racehorses (see [link]). Her flickr account is very popular and she has hoards of fans that comment on her work. She posts a lot of photos of Rachel Alexandra, and the comments are always filled with swooning fans going on about how *beautiful* she is and how *lovely* and how they wish they had a horse so *pretty*.

COME ON people. Does no one else think this horse is FUGLY??? Look at her face - oh my god, it's hideous! She has that horrid pig eye (the other eye seems ok. Not great, but ok), that ugly blaze that makes her head look goofy, and then even if you just saw a silhouette of her head, it would be skinny with a knob on the forehead and an ugly muzzle. Does no one else see this? No one?!?

I think she's uber talented and fun to watch, but I cannot swoon over fame like so many do and fake myself into calling her pretty. She's not. If you ever go on IMDB, the internet movie database, and go to the profile of an ugly actress, you will find a post on their boards going on about how beautiful/sexy/whatever they are. People will call anybody who is famous pretty - even Susan Boyle. So, I think that's what's happening here. Rachel Alexandra... is ugly. I just want someone else to be honest and admit it, too.

In other news, my cats all had their yearly checkups today, and my vet said Todd had a lot of earwax so she goes to clean it out and finds a spot that didn't come out and thinks it might be an ear polyp. I have to clean it daily for a week or two and go back to see if it goes away (meaning it was caked on earwax) or if it stays (meaning polyp). I did some research when we got home and found accounts on the internet of people who said they paid $2500 for polyp removal surgery, so I'm scared about all of this :\ I just don't have that kind of money to spend, especially when these things grow back 50-75% of the time. Sigh. So let's all hope it's not a polyp.

Art is never finished, only abandoned.
Great selection of horse stock.

I'm about to run a spring racing carnival contest, inspired by the movie "My Fair Lady"; and am browsing da for suitable horse stocks to help people who enter,

However, as you have a really great selection, I'd prefer it if I could affilate your stocks with the Required stocks available for use.

~

I sent this message originally to your stock account, but as you check this one more regulary I thought I'd post here as well.

Kind regards
Tash
